This day is festive for those who recognize the value and importance of the art form DANCE. \n\n\n\nWe invite you to the National Dance Festival “Utrinna Zvezda” on the occasion of World Dance Day – April 29\, part of the International Festival of Arts “Utrinna Zvezda”\, held in Sofia\, and at the most beautiful Bulgarian resorts – in summer at the seaside resorts Golden Sands\, Chernomorets\, Sozopol\, and in winter in Bansko. It is one of the leading and prestigious festivals in Bulgaria! The basis of the choreography must be classical\, with original elements from other styles. Costumes may include originality and stylization. Dances may be selected from any geographical or ethnic region and may represent any historical period. \n\n\n\n*Use of traditional costumes and music is mandatory. \n\n\n\n*Folk-stylized dance – choreography must correspond to the traditional dance\, but modern dance techniques may be used. The costume must reflect the characteristic image\, but may be simplified/stylized. \n\n\n\nDANCE SHOW\n\n\n\n*The dance must be narrative or concept-based\, with choreography arranged to create meaningful\, emotional or tempo development. Props\, decorations and stage materials are allowed. \n\n\n\n*Use of acrobatic elements is allowed but does not give an advantage. \n\n\n\n*Dance lifts and strength elements are allowed. \n\n\n\nDance Show is a complex synthesized dance direction based on free combinations of elements from classical choreography\, jazz\, modern\, contemporary choreography\, folk stylization\, variety\, cabaret\, acrobatic elements\, etc. It is a musical-choreographic miniature structured to reveal meaning and emotion. The composition may be emotional and contain show elements. The basis of the dance must include dramaturgical action with three compositional elements: introduction\, climax\, and finale. \n\n\n\nSOCIAL AND SPORT DANCES\n\n\n\n\n  Sport dances\n  Latin show\n  Salsa\n  Bachata\n  Merengue\n  Rueda\n  Argentine tango\n  Hustle\n\n\n\n\nJAZZ. CONTEMPORARY.\n\n\n\n*All dance movements must follow the respective technique. Style-specific leg\, arm and body positions. Decorations and stage materials are allowed. Accessories that are part of the costume or dancer’s character are allowed. \n\n\n\nJazz originated in the USA in the 1960s and combines Afro-American folklore and dances of other immigrants. It is characterized by freedom of movement of the body and its parts both horizontally and vertically\, coordination with the rhythm of the music\, syncopation\, and isolation movements. \n\n\n\nContemporary includes elements of modern\, jazz\, folk dances\, classical ballet with Eastern techniques and culture (yoga\, martial arts elements). The style constantly develops and focuses on plasticity\, grace\, stretching\, jumps\, falls\, slides\, contact improvisation\, alternating tension and relaxation\, balance\, etc. \n\n\n\nOPEN\n\n\n\nIn this category there are no restrictions in dance styles. Styles may be performed in pure form or in combination. \n\n\n\nUse of stage scenery and decorations is not allowed. \n\n\n\nUse of acrobatic elements is allowed but does not give an advantage. \n\n\n\nUse of accessories that are part of the costume or dancer’s character is allowed. \n\n\n\nSTREET DANCE / HIP HOP\n\n\n\nUse of props is not recommended. \n\n\n\nUse of accessories is allowed. \n\n\n\nAcrobatic elements are allowed\, but must not be dominant. \n\n\n\nMTV COMMERCIAL \n\n\n\nMTV COMMERCIAL is a highly visual and energetic dance style created for the entertainment industry – music videos\, concerts\, commercials and TV shows. The style is not strictly fixed. It combines elements of Hip-Hop\, Jazz Funk\, Street Jazz\, and sometimes Dancehall or Waacking\, and is audience-oriented. Stage presence\, facial expressions\, and camera work are important. Choreography often follows the beat\, lyrics or specific sounds. Movements are clean\, sharp and accented to look good on screen. The style highlights individuality\, charisma and confidence and may include provocative or high-intensity elements. \n\n\n\nMAJORETTE TEAMS \n\n\n\nParade and sport majorettes. \n\n\n\nUse of stage scenery and decorations is not allowed. \n\n\n\nUse of acrobatic elements is allowed. \n\n\n\nDance lifts and strength elements are allowed. \n\n\n\nACRO DANCE\n\n\n\nUse of stage scenery and decorations is not allowed. \n\n\n\nUse of acrobatic elements is allowed. \n\n\n\nDance lifts and strength elements are allowed. \n\n\n\nEVALUATION CRITERIA\n\n\n\nDANCE ART SECTION\n\n\n\n“INTERPRETATION”: the dancer’s ability to follow rhythm and musicality\, express them through body movement\, use technical elements appropriately to the musical pattern\, and smoothly continue the dance after pauses or stops. \n\n\n\n“TECHNIQUE”: movements must correspond to the music; execution of technical elements\, precision\, coordination\, balance and body control; use of space (vertical\, horizontal and diagonal planes); synchronization. \n\n\n\n“CHOREOGRAPHY”: distribution of movements and figures according to dance context\, costume and music; repertoire suitability to performers’ age. \n\n\n\n“IMAGE”: acting skills and stage presentation; ability to demonstrate emotions; opening and closing presentation. \n\n\n\nAWARDS FUND:\n\n\n\nGRAND PRIX – 500 EUR. \n\n\n\nSpecial awards: \n\n\n\n2 checks worth 200 EUR each for participation in the International Festival of Arts “Utrinna Zvezda” – Golden Sands Resort 23–30.06.2026 / 15–23.08.2025. \n\n\n\nCups\, medals and plaques for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place. \n\n\n\nAward for best choreography and staging. \n\n\n\nAward of Art Academy “Utrinna Zvezda” – laureates receive an invitation to represent Bulgaria at European and world competitions and festivals! \n\n\n\nAwards are granted at the discretion of the jury\, organizers and partners. They differ in rhythm\, tempo\, movement\, formations and style of performance. The characteristic features of the dances are most strongly expressed in each region from which they originate. Therefore\, they are divided into six main groups according to the folkloric regions of Bulgaria – Northern\, Dobrudzha\, Shopluk\, Thracian\, Pirin and Rhodope dances. Key stylistic features include springing movements\, squats (especially in Dobrudzha)\, rhythmic stamping and complex figures reflecting the Bulgarian spirit – strength\, temperament\, mastery and emotionality\, often accompanied by shouts and whistles.   The group presents dances or songs with a total duration of up to 10 minutes per category / composition or 2 dances / . \n\n\n\nDANCE SHOW \n\n\n\n*The dance must be story-based or image-based\, with choreography that builds meaningfully\, emotionally or in tempo. It is distinguished by freedom of movement of the body and its parts both horizontally and vertically. – coordination of movements with the rhythm of music; – syncopation – rhythm between strong beats; – isolated movements – mobility of only one part of the body while the rest remains still or moves in another direction. \n\n\n\nCONTEMPORARYContemporary – choreography includes elements of modern\, jazz\, folk dances\, classical ballet with Eastern techniques and culture (yoga\, martial arts). This style is constantly evolving and focuses on body plasticity\, stretching all muscle groups\, jumps\, falls\, slides on the floor\, contact improvisation. A characteristic feature is alternating tense muscles with sudden relaxation\, sharp stops\, falling and rising\, balancing. Contemporary contains elements of classical dance\, but while classical is strict form and a precise script\, in contemporary it is important for the dancer to listen to their body\, expressing emotional experiences. \n\n\n\nHIP-HOP / STREET DANCE\n\n\n\n\nHip-hop and street dance are umbrella terms for dance styles that emerged outside studios in an urban environment and are connected to  hip-hop culture\, focusing on freestyle\, improvisation\, personal expression and rhythm\, including elements such as break\, locking\, popping\, house and others\, developing around hip-hop music. They originated in urban conditions (streets\, clubs) in New York in the 1960s/70s\, with roots in the African-American and Latino communities. Street Dance: general term for styles such as breakdancing\, locking\, popping\, house\, krump and others. Hip-hop: broader concept including various combinations of street styles oriented to hip-hop music\, emphasizing groove and rhythmic movement. Hip-hop dance is a social and expressive style linked to hip-hop culture and music. It evolves through freedom and improvisation (freestyle). – Use of props is not recommended. – Use of accessories is allowed. – Acrobatic elements are allowed but should not dominate. \n\n\n\nMTV COMMERCIAL \n\n\n\n\nMTV COMMERCIAL is a highly visual and energetic dance style created specifically for the entertainment industry – music videos\, concerts\, commercials and TV shows. The name of the dance \n\n\n\nModel Music Section: FS\, III\, S\, Petya Petrova\, 1 You are beautiful  \n\n\n\nModel Dance Section : CB\, II\, DT\, Simona Petrova\, Peter Ivanov\, Ballet Fiery\, Pas de deux from the ballet Swan Lake \n\n\n\nDeadline for sending – together with the application for participation \n\n\n\n* An artist who has not sent music for his participation will not be admitted to the competition. \n\n\n\n* A performer who sends music after the specified deadline will have to pay an additional 10 euros. \n\n\n\nFINANCIAL CONDITIONS\n\n\n\nFESTIVAL FEE\n\n\n\n\nSolo/duet/trio – 30 EUR/person.\n\n\n\nGroups – 25 euro per person\n\n\n\nThe festival fee gives the contestant the right to participate in all styles  within one section.\n\n\n\nThe participant paid 25 euros for participation in the group and those wishing to participate in the solo / duet / trio format pay extra 10 euros for each number.\n\n\n\nThe festival fee is not paid: leaders\, assistant leaders of groups\, drivers and medical personnel!\n\n\n\nAccompanying persons pay a festival fee of 15 euros.\n\n\n\nCost of master classes  /certificates are awarded/  one section/style – 10 euros.\n\n\n\n\nAccommodation in hotels is only by prior request and only through the organizers \n\n\n\nHotels in Bansko: Spa hotels 3*\, 4* \n\n\n\nThe price includes: 4 nights in a 3*- 4* spa hotel\,  on FB conditions. \n\n\n\n /Full board – overnight stay\, breakfast + lunch + dinner/ \, use of SPA and swimming pool .
